I'm riding for the Teen Challenge SA Living Free Program!

The Living Free Program is committed to seeing lives set free from the destructive forces of addiction.

Help me to fundraise for this amazing cause and see lives transformed and restored!

Teen Challenge SA Inc and The Living Free Program is an amazing organisation providing 24/7/365 care for young men as they learn about the controlling and destructive nature of addiction.

Its run by a small but dedicated team of paid staff and volunteers and needs all the support it can muster in order to continue providing this essential service, allowing lives of individuals, families and communities to be restored, renewed and reconciled...

Come on a journey and support and sponsor me as I attempt to recover from metastatic terminal cancer in order to get back on the bike, ride as many miles as I can, and raise a few dollars and awareness for this great cause!

Looking forward to being a part of this special event in October and and for it being an amazing month for Teen Challenge SA Inc and the Living Free Program!!

It's time to get back on the bike..!

Over half way there..!

Wednesday 20th Oct
Well, the Break the Chains 2021 Ride for Recovery Challenge is over half way done and the small but dedicated team of riders participating has raised over $16,000 so far which is awesome...! But sadly, I haven't been as active as I'd hoped... One ride in Week One due to weather and crazy shifts at work, and this second week I've had an awful sinus infection and head cold and extreme lethargy... Ugh...

But a they say, it's time to get back on the horse, so I'm hoping over the next 10 or so days I can finish off strong...!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who has generously supported me and this very worthy cause - it takes an entire village to care for its needy ones...

October is on its way..!!

Wednesday 15th Sep
Two awesome rides in 5 days..!

The first was last Saturday - my first pushbike ride in 5 months since my hip replacement and pelvis recon... It was only 11kms, but it was pain free and without complications..! 💯🤙

The second was 120kms today thru the Adelaide Hills on my other set of wheels... Another enjoyable outing indeed..!

And in keeping with a pledge I made a couple of months ago, the riding will continue and I'm setting myself a goal of riding 500kms on my MTB during the month of October to raise funds for a charity close to my heart as well as Christine's - The Living Free Program run by not-for-profit charity Teen Challenge SA Inc. which provides a 24/7/365 live in rehab service helping people break free from addiction - drugs, alcohol, gambling... Their work is amazing, just as it is to see people from all walks of life reclaim their lives from the destructive forces of addiction. The program is funded by participant contributions as well as donations and bequests with no government support, so community support is vital to it's day to day running. How good is it when individuals overcome significant hurdles in life to once again become significant contributors to their families, workplaces and communities...!! 💯👌👊

The Break the Chains 2021 Ride for Recovery Challenge starts on October 1 and runs thru until midnight on October 31 and I'll be seeking to raise $5000 for this amazing cause.

Please consider supporting me and The Living Free Program / TCSA by donating to my challenge... The link to my page is below ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

If you read this far, thanks for taking the time..! Bring on October!!

Blessya, Stu 🙏🙌🙏

First ride in 5 months...!!

Good News Alert!!

Sunday 20th Jun
What a great day to walk to the bottom of the Morialta Falls! It's now 9 weeks since my pelvis recon and hip replacement and Christine and I walked / limped 4 kms today in brisk but sunny conditions. It was great to be out and to take my recovery to another level..! I'm sore but satisfied 👊 *** Good News Alert*** The week before last, my three monthly scans and checkups showed that the cancer has not spread further, and the 30 tumors we know about have started to shrink about 10% in size which is amazing news - and a true answer to prayer... 🙏🙏🙏 Although we don't know for sure if this is a temporary reprieve or a more permanent outcome, it's such a relief to not have to have any further treatments at this time...👌💯👊🙏🙌 And as a result of this news, last week I was able to secure the blessing of my surgeon and oncologist as well as a pink slip from the PMO clearing me for a return to work! So all going well, I'll head back to police comms and rejoin my team on a .6 FTE FWA on the 5th of August. Good news all round!! 🙌🙏🙌 To make the most of this good news, I've decided to challenge myself to see how fast and how far I can recover and for my collective efforts (and your support..!) to support the Living Free Program run by Teen Challenge SA Inc. ...!

Christine and I have the privilege of supporting and mentoring men of all ages as they recover from various destructive addictions and it's such a blessing to see these men return to their families and society, clean and functioning well. At the moment I can only walk a limited distance, and it's likely I'll never run again... but I am hoping to be able to get back on my mountain bike, so my challenge is to recover enough to be able to ride 500kms and raise at least $2000 in the month of October which is only 14 weeks away. So, if you have a heart to see people and societies restored from the destructive forces of addiction, no matter the vice, then please come along for the journey and support me, or even better, get on board and accept the challenge yourself!!
