What type of bike can I ride?

The Break the Chains 2021 Ride for Recovery Challenge allows you to ride where ever you wish, so long as you're legally permitted to do so, so you’ll need a bike that can safely and comfortably cover the terrain and distance that you're wanting to ride.

You’ll also need to ensure you have items such as water bottles, bike pump, tube/tyre repair kit, spare tube, multitool etc so that you can undertake repairs and take care of business along the way.

Road bikes, hybrids, cyclo-cross and tandem bikes are all good choices for distance riding.

Modern-day mountain bikes and e-bikes are also geared well and have good ergonomics but weigh more than road-based bikes, but if that’s all you have and you still wish to ride, then welcome aboard!

The possibilities are endless... Have wheels, will travel!

Where can I ride and how do I log my KMs?

Absolutely anywhere you wish—so long as you're legally permitted to ride there! On-road or off-road—the possibilities are endless!

Whether you clock up the KM's riding to and from work, or you're a weekend warrior who loves to hit the open road, you can ride anywhere, at any time, over any distance with anyone you wish!
